Tornado Hits Florida Neighborhoods Without Warning

5 hours agoA tornado caught everyone by surprise Wednesday evening when it ripped through Pinellas County, tearing up dozens of homes and leaving neighborhoods west of Tampa in shambles.
The twister appeared during what looked like just another regular summer thunderstorm. Nobody saw it coming. Mobile home communities around Pinellas Park got hit the hardest, with the tornado yanking siding and roof pieces clean off houses.
Emergency crews jumped into action right away, going house to house to check if anyone got hurt or needed help. Luckily, police said no major injuries happened, even though lots of homes took a beating.
"At this time, no injuries have been reported; however, multiple homes have sustained damage. We ask the public to avoid the affected areas to allow emergency crews to safely and effectively continue their work," the Largo Police Department announced.
