Tropical Storm Hanna Forms Over the Atlantic Ocean

A new tropical storm has formed over the Atlantic, becoming the eighth named storm of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season and marking a busy start to the week in the tropics.

Hanna Forms Northeast of Bermuda, Poses No Threat to the U.S.

Tropical Storm Hanna formed late Monday morning about 850 miles northeast of Bermuda, with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph and moving due east at 17 mph. Forecasters expect Hanna to remain a tropical storm through midweek before gradually weakening and losing its tropical characteristics.

The storm isn't expected to have any direct impact on the United States given its current track and movement away from land.
