The U.S. is bracing for potential impacts from a tropical weather event by next week. But first, another hurricane could threaten Bermuda. There is a lot of activity firing up in the tropical Atlantic this week, and we are here to parse it out for you.

Latest Details on Tropical Storm Humberto

Tropical Storm Humberto came to life on Wednesday and is forecast to become the next major hurricane of the season. As of the Thursday morning update from the National Hurricane Center (NHC), Humberto was located several miles to the east-northeast of the Leeward Islands. Humberto is moving to the northwest at a speed of 8 mph, packing maximum sustained winds of 50 mph. The storm is not expected to affect the Caribbean or the Leeward Islands.

Forecast maps from the National Hurricane Center show the earliest reasonable arrival times for tropical-storm-force winds from Humberto, stretching from the eastern Caribbean toward the U.S. East Coast and Bermuda. (NHC)

The latest forecast models indicate that Humberto will continue to intensify, becoming the third hurricane of the season by the weekend. While Humberto is not expected to deliver direct threats to the U.S., Bermuda could get caught in the crosshairs as the storm moves in that direction.
