Trump has already started the process to exit the Paris climate agreement again, slashed climate spending, and imposed broad tariffs on Chinese imports. But experts say China will likely just keep doing what it's been doing – building massive renewable energy capacity and dominating global clean tech markets.
The numbers tell a stark story. China invested $818 billion in renewables in 2024, accounting for two-thirds of the $2.1 trillion spent globally on clean energy transition. The country achieved its 2030 renewable targets six years ahead of schedule.
