A series of significant storm systems is currently bearing down on California, bringing the state's most substantial moisture in weeks. Here is a look at the timing and likely impacts of this weather maker moving in from the Pacific.

Most Significant Moisture in Weeks Headed to California

Multiple storm events are making their way to California, beginning this past weekend. While the surge of moisture is needed heading into the dry season, the intensity of the rain and snow is raising the risk of flooding, mudslides, and travel disruptions that will last for days.

Forecasters are warning that up to a month's worth of rain and snow could hit California as these storms take aim at the West Coast. The first system came ashore late Saturday and is persisting into Tuesday. The initial impacts began after the sun went down on Saturday in the northwestern corner of California. The low-elevation rain spread on Sunday and is continuing through today. Meanwhile, heavy snow is the issue for the Sierra Nevada and the Siskiyou Mountains as the storm system moves through.
