3 hours agoHope is on the horizon for those longing for a respite from the frigid temperatures. A warmer weather pattern is in store for the second week of February across much of the Midwest and the East. Here are the details of this less frightful forecast.
Warmer Temperatures to Look Forward to Next Week for the Central and Eastern U.S.
While another blast of Arctic air is on deck for portions of the Midwest, the Ohio Valley, the Great Lakes, and the Northeast by the end of this week, a warmer trend is building for next week. What is likely to be some of the coldest days of the winter season are ahead for the end of the week and into the weekend. This mass of Arctic air is diving down from Canada thanks to an unstable polar vortex.
Forecasters are warning that although warmer air will push from west to east from the Pacific beginning next week, it will take some time and effort for the more moderate temperatures to displace the Arctic air invasion ahead of it. The extensive snow coverage over the eastern U.S. will also make it more difficult for the warmer air to settle into the wintry landscape.
