10 hours agoIt is starting to feel like fall across a large part of the central and eastern U.S. The weekend brought in an influx of cool air from Canada, reaching all the way to the Midwest and the southern U.S.
Fall-like Weather to Start the Week in Central and Eastern U.S.
The mass of cooler temperatures came in behind a front that pushed through the Midwest and the Plains to close out the week. This surge of cooler air tracked to the east throughout the weekend, expected to reach the Atlantic coastline to the east and down to the Gulf Coast by the start of the new work week.
The mercury is forecast to hover 10 to 20 degrees below the historical average for the start of September, putting the temperatures in the range of what is typically seen in the middle of October. It was a chilly start to the Sunday Night Football game between the Buffalo Bills and the Baltimore Ravens. The temperature was a mere 57 degrees in Buffalo at the time of kickoff.
