The start of the meteorological spring is getting off to an unusually warm start for much of the U.S. Forecasters are predicting that dozens of daily high records could fall this week in a zone stretching from the Desert Southwest to the mid-Atlantic. Read on for a closer look at where the mercury will climb in the coming days.

Record High Readings Possible This Week as Warmth Expands

The upcoming forecast will feel more like early summer than the first week of the meteorological spring for millions of Americans. It is hard to blame people for having a major case of weather whiplash. While last week featured a historic blizzard that dumped snowfall measured in feet across the Northeast, this week's forecast is calling for temperatures that could bring down records.

Daily highs will run well above the historical average for much of the country. The warmth will be focused on the Desert Southwest and the Deep South at the beginning of the week.

Forecast highs show summerlike warmth building early in the week from the Desert Southwest into Texas and the Deep South, with some cities pushing into the 80s and even flirting with 90-degree heat. |Climate Central/weatherforecastnow.com
