Warming Trend Signaling Start of Spring for Midwest and Northeast
A surge of noticeably warmer air is going to usher in the official start of the astronomical spring on Friday for much of the central and eastern U.S. Some cities could approach daily record highs until the next cooldown arrives early next week.
The first few weeks of spring are typically characterized by a roller coaster of temperatures. This year will be no different, as the mercury fluctuates wildly over the next several days. Over 120 million people in the Midwest and the Northeast will see spring stake its claim over winter beginning on Friday. The warmth will come on the heels of a stretch of bitterly cold days.
The warmup is already underway in some parts of the Midwest. These temperatures will spread to the Northeast by the end of the week and into the weekend.
