Someone may put on the prized green jacket for the 2024 Masters Golf Tournament on Sunday, April 14, 2024, but the weather may push the finish to Monday.

Let's look at what the weather may do at the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.

At 7 p.m. CST, officials announced that the gates at the Masters Tournament would open late. They say they will have more updates to share no later than 5 a.m. The reason for the delay is severe weather that is expected to impact the area overnight.

Thursday's Weather at the Masters

The first tee time at the 2024 Masters Golf Tournament was set for 8 a.m. on April 11, 2024.

Unfortunately, rain delayed those tee times. It could rain up to 0.5 inches, with the potential for heavy downpours. The Masters Tournament has often been stopped for short periods of rain before play resumes.

The National Weather Service has already issued a high wind warning advisory for Thursday, starting at 8 a.m. and ending at 8 p.m.

The weather service says that the wind should constantly blow out of the south between 15 and 25 miles per hour, with some gusts reaching up to 45 miles per hour. This could impact play if limbs are blown off trees or if it causes power outages.
