Valentine’s Day conjures up images of roses, chocolate, and cozy romantic encounters. But Mother Nature often plays a role in lovers' plans as well as the Valentine's Day forecast could make or break a date.

This year, Old Man Winter looks ready to relax his icy grip just in time for the holiday in many parts of the country. However, some areas may still be dealing with snow and cold temperatures.

Weather on Valentine's Day, Eastern U.S.

From the Northeast through the Southeast and across the Southern Plains, the Valentine's day forecast has predicted temperatures to climb near or above normal mid-February averages.

Out ahead of an approaching frontal boundary, southerly breezes will pull warm air northward across the Eastern third of the nation. Highs reaching the 40s as far north as New York to the 70s across Florida will make for pleasant outdoor Valentine’s festivities from the Atlantic Coast to the Mississippi River.

Mild and dry conditions are likely to continue into the overnight hours. Cloud cover will vary, leaving some areas illuminated by the glowing light of the full Snow Moon.
