Wet Holiday Week Ahead for the Northeastern U.S.
Christy Bowen
2 hours agoThe northeastern corner of the country is going to be wet throughout much of the holiday week. Whether this moisture falls as snow, ice, or rain will depend on the roller coaster of temperatures. Here is a closer look at what you can expect from Mother Nature in the Northeast in the days ahead.
Mix of Rain, Snow, and Ice Headed to the Northeast Throughout the Holiday Week
Despite a general warming trend, it will remain wet across the northeastern U.S. this holiday week. A parade of quick-hitting storms will keep the moisture flowing into the region with only brief periods of dry weather in between.
Temperatures will vary widely, ranging from the 30s to the 60s for highs in a zone from the Ohio Valley through the Northeast. While the temperatures will feel more like spring in some areas of the eastern U.S., the northern tier will see readings cold enough to support the development of a snow or ice mix.
The bulk of the mid-Atlantic region will be dry but chilly to start the holiday week. It will be a different situation across the Great Lakes when the first storm of the week brings along the threat of snow and ice. Parts of central and south-central Pennsylvania will be the biggest potential trouble spot on Monday night and Tuesday, with the chance of freezing rain mixing in with the snow and the sleet.
