Hurricane Melissa will not be done after it roars across Jamaica. The storm is expected to remain a monster as it aims at Cuba and the Bahamas, also potentially impacting Bermuda, Atlantic Canada, and Europe. Read on for a closer look at what Melissa will be up to after delivering her fury on Jamaica.

Cuba Up Next on Melissa's Destructive Journey

The latest National Hurricane Center forecast cone shows Hurricane Melissa moving from Jamaica toward southeastern Cuba, where life-threatening flooding, winds up to 140 mph, and storm surge of up to 10 feet are expected. (NHC/NOAA)

Life-threatening flooding, high winds, and devastating storm surge are in the forecast for Cuba and Hispaniola after Melissa moves out of Jamaica. The major hurricane has been a prolific rainfall producer since coming to life in the Caribbean last week. The heavy rainfall associated with the 13th named tropical event of the season has already unleashed flooding that has killed at least four people in Hispaniola.

Forecasters are warning that the bands of heavy rain and high winds will stretch hundreds of miles from Melissa's center, putting millions in its path as the storm crawls through the Caribbean at a slow speed. After making landfall in Jamaica, Melissa is expected to make a second direct strike when it comes ashore in southeastern Cuba. The latest forecasting models put Melissa's eye coming ashore at about 3 am EDT on Wednesday. However, Melissa's dangerous impacts will be felt in Cuba well ahead of landfall.
