The calendar is about to flip to July, ushering in the peak of the summer season. What does the long-range forecast indicate about what the U.S. should expect in the month ahead? A new report issued last week from The Weather Company and Atmospheric G2 is shedding a little light on what Americans can expect from Mother Nature this July. Read on for all of the details.

Widespread Warmer Than Usual Readings on Tap This July

July Weather (NOAA)

The bulk of the U.S. will swelter under temperatures that are forecast to be warmer than usual this July. The exception to this general rule will be across parts of the Southeast and over into the southern Plains. However, the tradeoff will be that these cooler than normal areas will be so at the hands of wetter conditions.

The warm June will hang around for the central and northern portions of the Rockies in the new month. These warmer-than-average temperatures will spread into the northern Plains in the coming weeks.

Conversely, it is forecast to be slightly cooler than usual across the Southeast. However, this is still a part of the country that is accustomed to seeing sizzling temperatures this time of the year, meaning that you can still count on readings that feel like the middle of the summer.

The Northeast will continue to see the trend of the back-and-forth temperature swings. This corner of the U.S. should be prepared for times of extreme heat, trading places with cooler masses of air coming down from Canada periodically.

The cooler weather in the Southeast will come with precipitation levels that are predicted to trend higher than usual. This pattern will be a continuation of the soggy June.
