Despite the calendar only reading October, the East Coast just got hit by its first nor'easter of the year. This storm sent heavy rain and gusty conditions roaring up and down the coast from the Carolinas and up into southern New England. While the worst of the storm has passed, Tuesday could still present some challenges due to the lingering impacts. Read on for the latest.

One More Day of Lingering Nor'easter Impacts

The nor'easter that has been hammering a large swath of the eastern U.S since Sunday is finally easing on Tuesday. By late Monday, there were two different areas of low pressure spinning near the East Coast. The strongest of the pair was positioned just off the coast of the Delmarva Peninsula and up to the Jersey Shore. When combined with a zone of high pressure to the north in parts of Atlantic Canada, strong winds were whipping up across the coast of the Northeast and into southern portions of New England.

The forecast is calling for the storm to slowly drift out to sea throughout the day on Tuesday. The coastal warnings that had been issued over the weekend will expire on Tuesday morning for the zone from the Outer Banks of North Carolina and to the north to Long Island, New York.
