The National Park Service (NPS) recently released its official peak bloom forecast for the Yoshino cherry trees that dot the landscape of the nation's capital, providing updated guidance about when the colors will be the most vivid.
It was a harsh winter for Washington, D.C, but the signs of spring are finally arriving. Peak bloom is defined as when approximately 70% of the Yoshino blossoms are open. The peak dates change each year, driven by the preceding weather patterns.
