Everyone thinks winter is the worst time for asthma. Makes sense - cold air, dry conditions, everyone stuck indoors breathing recycled germs. But summer weather can actually mess with your lungs way more than most people realize.

While cold weather gets most the blame for breathing problems, certain summer conditions create perfect storms for asthma sufferers. The stuff that makes summer feel amazing - warmth, humidity, outdoor fun - can turn your lungs into a war zone.

Heat Makes Your Airways Freak Out

Hot weather doesn't just make you sweat buckets. When temperatures climb above 85 degrees, your airways start working overtime just to cool down the air you're breathing. This extra work can trigger asthma symptoms even when you're just sitting around.

Heat also makes air pollution nastier. All those exhaust fumes and industrial muck that normally float away get trapped in hot air, creating a toxic soup for your lungs. Cities become giant pollution bowls on scorching days.
