The active weather pattern across the northern flank of the country will persist over the next few days as more winter storms take aim at the region. Here is a look at what is brewing on the heels of the historic blizzard that is still causing problems for millions.

Train of Winter Storms Continuing to Chug Across the Northeast

More winter storms are waiting in the wings for the northeastern U.S. The train of storms is chugging along as the region digs out from a bomb cyclone that dumped up to 3 feet of snow in some places. The latest estimates put the economic damage from the blizzard at $34 to $38 billion.

Just hours after the weekend blizzard wrapped up, an Alberta clipper began its descent from Canada and into the Upper Midwest, the northern Great Lakes, and the interior Northeast. This storm is moving quickly through the area, expected to reach the coastal portions of the Northeast on Wednesday.

This NOAA Weather Prediction Center forecast shows snow and mixed precipitation spreading through the Upper Midwest, Great Lakes, and interior Northeast as an Alberta clipper races toward the East Coast. (NOAA WPC)
