Winter Weather Bearing Down on Much of Eastern U.S.
Christy Bowen
3 hours agoThe abnormally mild start to the year is coming to an end across the eastern U.S. Falling temperatures and increasing chances of snow will mark the second full week of the year as winter returns with a vengeance. Here is a look at what to expect in this part of the country in the days ahead.
Winterlike Weather Back on Deck for the Eastern U.S. This Week
A large swath of the eastern U.S. is getting a reality check this week after enjoying a long stretch of atypically warm weather. Most of the communities in the northern U.S. that saw several inches of snow recently saw that snowpack melt away or turn to slush. The rest of the snowpack still hanging on across the Great Lakes, upstate New York, and New England will begin to melt in the early part of the week before the next round of frigid air moves into the region.
The new work week will start out on an unseasonably warm note with widespread highs hovering in the 40s and 50s across most of the Great Lakes and the Northeast.
