While it will not compare to the historic blizzard that unleashed across the Northeast to start the week, forecasters are warning that more winter weather is headed that way again. Here is a look at what is on the horizon for the winter-weary Northeast.

More Wintry Precipitation on Deck for the Snow-Covered Northeastern U.S.

More chances of snow are headed back to the Northeast this week as the battered region digs out from the massive nor'easter. Over 3 feet of snow was recorded across the hardest-hit areas of the East Coast, prompting local officials to institute travel bans in some areas.

Unfortunately for those who are ready for winter to fade away into spring, more wintry impacts are on the way this week. Cold temperatures will linger for the next few days across the region, causing untreated roads and sidewalks to freeze over at night. It will remain bone-chilling cold on Tuesday in the major cities of the Interstate 95 corridor in the Northeast. The mercury will struggle to break past the freezing mark in New York City, Boston, and Philadelphia.

This temperature outlook shows the Northeast staying near or below freezing early week, a setup that keeps fresh snow risk alive and turns daytime slush into morning ice. |Climate Central
