A deadly flood disaster is unfolding across central Texas after a powerful storm system dumped over 10 inches of rain in just hours Thursday night into Friday morning. The relentless downpour has triggered life-threatening flash flooding from San Angelo to Kerrville, turning roadways into rivers and prompting widespread water rescues.

Life-Threatening Flooding Hits Kerr County

In Kerr County, roughly 75 miles west of Austin, officials confirmed multiple fatalities amid rapidly rising waters. The sheriff’s office described it as a “catastrophic flooding event” and urged residents to remain in place.

“The entire county is an extremely active scene,” officials said. “We can confirm fatalities, but will not release further information until next of kin are notified.”
