The Denver metropolitan area has dodged a major snow event this season but is that all about to change? Forecasters are warning that the biggest snowstorm of the season is targeting the Mile High City this week.

Here is what you need to know about the predicted timing and intensity of this looming event.

Mild Weather to be Erased with Incoming Snow in Rocky Mountains

Winter is about to make an encore appearance with snow in Rocky Mountains in the coming days, bringing along a host of impacts and travel disruptions. The week will begin on a mild note for the area with temperatures forecast to hover at levels more typical of the end of March and the beginning of April.

For instance, Denver will see the mercury climb into the mid 60s on Monday and Tuesday under partly cloudy skies. Overnight lows will also remain relatively mild for this time of the year, bottoming out in the upper 30s.

High temperatures to start the week will also be well above the freezing mark for the higher terrains. The popular ski resort town of Vail will see highs bouncing around in the mid 40s on Monday and Tuesday, perfect conditions for spring skiing.

However, as is typical during the month of March for the Rockies, winter can return at any time. This is exactly what will happen by the middle of the week when a storm that is currently dumping rain and snow across the Pacific Northwest dips to the southeast and makes its way across the Rocky Mountains.
