A duo of rainstorms originating in the Pacific will send a deluge of tropical moisture across the Southwest in the days ahead, raising the risk of life-threatening flooding. Here is an updated look at what to expect as two separate areas of tropical moisture surge up into this corner of the country.

The remnants of former Category 2 Hurricane Priscilla are set to bring 4 to 8 inches of rain to parts of the Southwest and Four Corners, raising the risk of flash flooding in typically dry terrain. (weatherforecastnow.com))

The combined moisture from what is left of the former Category 2 Hurricane Priscilla and the newly formed Tropical Storm Raymond will translate to a risk of 4 to 8 inches of rain for the Southwest. The rain event will begin late this week and linger into the early part of next week.

Hurricane Priscilla peaked as a Category 2 storm on Tuesday in the waters off Mexico in the Eastern Pacific. As of the Thursday update from the National Hurricane Center (NHC), Priscilla had weakened to a tropical storm with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph. The storm is moving to the north-northwest at a speed of 8 mph as it approaches Mexico's Baja Peninsula.
