Summer is a great time for outdoor adventures with your dog, but rising temperatures can also pose serious health risks. Dogs are more vulnerable to heat than many people realize, and overheating can quickly become a medical emergency.

Whether you're heading to the beach, spending time in the backyard, or taking your daily walk, these vet-approved tips can help keep your furry friend cool, comfortable, and safe all summer long.

Keep Your Dog Hydrated

Just like humans, dogs need plenty of water to stay healthy, especially during hot weather.

Most healthy dogs need roughly ½ to 1 ounce of water per pound of body weight each day, though requirements increase with exercise, heat, age, pregnancy, and certain medical conditions.
