Massive Great White Shark Spotted Off the Coast of Maine

YesterdayBeachgoers along Maine's southern coast got a rare and important reminder of ocean safety this week when a massive great white shark was seen swimming near popular shorelines.
Large Great White Spotting
The great white shark, estimated to be about 10-12 feet long, was caught on drone footage near Richmond Island, Crescent Beach State Park, Higgins Beach, and Pine Point Beach.
This spotting prompted local authorities to issue warnings and urge caution when entering the water.
In Scarborough, police and marine resource officers raised flags to alert swimmers and released footage to keep the public aware. Though rare in Maine waters, great white sightings have become more frequent in the past few years. Many experts link the increase to growing seal populations along the coast.
