The first week of November is going to be a soggy and tumultuous one for much of the West Coast as a train of storms chugs through the region, bringing rain and high-elevation snow in from the Pacific Ocean. Here is a look at what to expect in the days ahead across the western U.S.

West Coast Storm Train Back in Action for the Season

Persistent waves of moisture will pummel a large swath of the West Coast this week as several storms take aim at the region. The unsettled weather pattern will continue the trend started as the month of October came to an end. The storm train is pulling into the station right on time, as the wet season for the West Coast typically runs from the late fall to early spring months.

For instance, Seattle picks up about 25 inches of rain between October and February. For context, the Emerald City averages an annual rainfall accumulation of just over 39 inches. Likewise, Portland typically picks up about 36 inches of rain each year. Of this amount, approximately 63% falls between October and February.
