A Look at Odd Weather Occurrences During February 2024

The weather in February 2024 was unusual around the world. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, many of the changes may have been caused by climate change.

It was the ninth month in a row that the average temperature in the world set a record high.

United States

Meteorological winter, which runs from December 1 to February 28, set records for being the hottest in the Continental United States. Data shows the average temperature was 37.6 degrees, 5.4 degrees above the 20th-century norm.

In Alaska, temperatures were the third hottest in the last 100 years in the Northern part of the state. Over six states recorded record high temperatures for the month across the Midwest and Northeast.
