Powerful Nor'easter Slowly Pulls Away From Northeast After Deadly Flooding

A powerful nor'easter continues to batter the Northeast into Monday, bringing coastal flooding, strong winds and heavy rain that have already knocked out power to more than 130,000 customers and left one person dead in Brooklyn, though conditions are expected to improve as the storm gradually pulls away.

Coastal Flooding and Power Outages Hit the Jersey Shore Hardest

The storm moved onshore near Barnegat Light, New Jersey, Sunday morning, following a weekend of destructive coastal flooding along the Jersey Shore. Sunday morning's high tide brought the worst flooding for much of New Jersey and New York, with strong onshore winds inundating low-lying coastal areas with several feet of water and prompting water rescues in Sea Bright, New Jersey, where multiple vehicles stalled.
