Severe storms, snow, and flash flooding could impact a large swath of the central and eastern portions of the country through the weekend. A pair of multi-faceted storm systems is already impacting a zone from Texas to the Great Lakes, bringing a number of hazards. Here is a more detailed look at what you should expect in the days ahead.

Weekend Storm to Impact Millions in Eastern U.S.

It is setting up to be a messy weekend for over 100 million Americans thanks to a duo of potent storms. The interior portions of the West saw the snow ignite earlier in the week. The flakes were welcomed across the region's ski resorts after an unusually dry start to the winter season in this part of the country.

Friday dawned with the storms pushing out from the interior Southwest, bringing up copious amounts of moisture from the Gulf along the way. The storms will eventually turn to the north and head to the Upper Midwest.

A multi-hazard storm system is setting up across the central and eastern U.S., bringing the risk of severe thunderstorms, heavy rain, flash flooding, and snow from the southern Plains into the Midwest and Great Lakes as the weekend begins. (NOAA)
