Sneaker Wave Kills Woman in Oregon

As the name implies, a sneaker wave is a wave that can sneak up on you, even in times of calm weather. Local officials in Oregon confirmed that 43-year-old Caroline Moses died over the weekend after a sneaker pulled her into the Pacific Ocean.

According to the reports, Moses was walking along the beach down the coast from Cape Kiwanda, Oregon, in Siletz Bay when the wave pulled her into the water. A multi-agency rescue operation was immediately launched, using Coast Guard boats in the water, spotters on the beach, and drone operators searching on land. Sadly, her body was found two hours later, about four miles south of where the wave grabbed her.
