Temperatures Rebound Across the Northeast After a Frosty Weekend
Alexis Thornton
2 hours agoAfter a chilly weekend that brought frost to much of the interior Northeast, a milder and calmer stretch of weather is settling in. Temperatures are climbing back toward typical late October levels across the Ohio Valley and Northeast this week, and dry conditions should stick around for most of the region.
The turnaround comes courtesy of a broad area of high pressure, which will move over the Northeast and largely stay put for several days. High pressure is associated with sinking air, which discourages clouds and rain from forming. That setup typically brings sunny skies, light winds and quiet weather, a welcome change after a brief but potent cold snap gave many communities their first real taste of winter.
Temperatures Return to Normal
Highs will gradually recover early in the week and settle near the historical average for mid- to late October. Cities such as New York, Philadelphia and Cleveland can expect afternoon temperatures in the 60s.
