A wave of heavy snow pummeled the Midwest and the Great Lakes in the days after Thanksgiving, snarling travel and bringing down several records. Chicago set a new record for the most snow on any day in November on Saturday. The Windy City recorded 8.4 inches of snow on this date, equaling over half of the total amount of snow over the entirety of the 2024 - 2025 winter season. The previous record of 8 inches in one November day goes back to November 6, 1951.

Moving to the north, Madison, Wisconsin, also notched its heaviest November snow day on Saturday when the capital city picked up 9.3 inches.
