Why You Need Sunglasses Every Day, Not Just at the Beach

7 hours agoMost folks remember to slather on sunscreen before hitting the beach, but hardly anyone thinks about what those same rays are doing to their eyeballs year-round. Big mistake that can really bite you later.
Eye specialists at The Vision Council warn that constant UV exposure leads to cataracts, macular degeneration, photokeratitis (basically getting your cornea sunburned), and even cancers around your eyes and eyelids.
Despite knowing this stuff, almost 40% of adults skip sunglasses regularly. Pretty crazy when you think about how UV damage builds up in your eyes over time and never goes away.
Eye doctors say protecting your vision is dead simple - just wear sunglasses with 100% UVA and UVB protection every time you walk outside, whether it's blazing summer or freezing winter.
