Why Your Garden Plants Know About Tomorrow's Weather

11 hours agoYour tomatoes probably know it's going to rain before your weather app does. Sounds crazy, but plants have been predicting weather for millions of years - way longer than meteorologists have existed.
While you're checking your phone for tomorrow's forecast, your garden is already getting ready for whatever's coming. Plants pick up on atmospheric changes that weather stations miss, making them surprisingly accurate forecasters.
Plants Feel Pressure Changes
Barometric pressure drops before storms hit, and plants can sense these changes hours or even days ahead of time. When pressure starts falling, plants literally prepare for battle.
Leaves close up to prevent water loss during heavy rain. Flowers shut down to protect pollen. Some plants even change their scent production based on pressure changes.
